Happy Wednesday! Wines In The Valley Returns

A hugely successful four week “Wines In the Valley” promotion in 2012 saw wines from USA, Australia, New Zealand, Italy and France available to wine-loving punters attending the Wednesday night races at Hong Kong’s Happy Valley Racecourse. The addition of this promotion saw increased numbers of people at the races to sample the wines while watching the horses and thus, due to popular demand, “Wines In The Valley” is returning this Wednesday 27^th February with more fine wines and specialty foods from local suppliers and the chefs at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

For the next three racing Wednesdays (Feb 27^th, March 6^th and March 13^th) you can enjoy wines from France, Italy, Argentina, Chile, Australia and New Zealand while you watch the races with specialty food also prepared to match each wine for each specific week. This Wednesday you can enjoy two specialty dishes from Chef Patrick Lam; Sichuan Style Chicken with Chili Oil and Smoky Beancurd Sheet filled with Lobster Filet, Vegetables and Black mushroom (see pictures below).

Again, the “Wine Pass” will be available to everyone to buy at the races which gives you the unique chance to taste five wines for just HK$160 and with a choice of over 50 wines available at the races there is plenty to choose from. Hong Kong Jockey Club sommeliers will also be on hand to recommend wines and recommend which wines go with the specialty dishes of the week.

The following weeks dishes are: March 6^th; Stewed Australian Beef Cheek cubes with Five Spice, plus Chicken Quesadillas with Red Onion, Cheese and Guacamole. Then on March 13^th you can savour Roasted Pork Belly and a Goose Liver and Black Truffle cocktail platter.

Each night will also feature entertainment other than the horse racing that will see live bands playing between races, the continuation of the beer garden (if you think there’s a need for that!) plus fun games with prizes where $1000 cash vouchers can be won at the blind tasting competition area.
