Armani / Aqua, the restaurant where ‘Couture meets Cuisine’ is proud to welcome Shiqin Chen, Executive Chef at the Michelin-starred ‘La Rei’ in Serralunga d’Alba (Barolo, Italy) for three exclusive evenings on Saturday 23rd, Sunday 24th and Monday 25th March.
Chef Chen has designed a special wine pairing menu that features the
best of North Italian cuisine and his award-winning technique and creativity.
His unique dishes will be matched to wines from the prestigious Batasiolo
winery in Barolo.
The story of Chen’s journey to the highest echelons of his
profession in Italy is a unique one. Born in Shanghai, Chen’s desire to travel
spurred him to visit Europe where he attended a course at the Italian Culinary
Institute for Foreigners. Various stages followed, allowing Chen to
refine his skills in some of Italy’s best Michelin-starred restaurants, from Il
Pescatore in Canneto sull’Oglio to the Antica Corona Reale in Cervere, where he
acquired ten years’ experience working alongside Chef Gianpiero Vivalda.
Joining La Rei, the Michelin-starred restaurant of Il Boscareto Resort &
Spa, Chen became an expert in Piedmontese cuisine adding a new twist with
his own unique style.
Winery Batasiolo is owned by the Dogliani family and Batasiolo is one of
the most famous privately owned wineries in the prestigious Barolo region.
Since the 1950s, the Batasiolo estate has owned 9 of the best vineyards within
the region, and it continues to produce all the celebrated wines of Piedmont:
Gavi, Dolcetto, Barbera, Barbaresco, Barolo and Moscato d’Asti. Regularly
awarded by Wine Spectator, Gambero Rosso and Decanter, Batasiolo's flagship
wines are true expressions of the most distinctive grapes in North-West Italy.
