Hong Kong’s First Crimean Wine Shop Opens

Last night saw the opening of the first Crimean wine shop in Hong Kong. In fact, it is the first of its kind in Greater China and shows how the country is diversifying in its taste in wine and how the people of Hong Kong are realizing that there is more to wine than just Bordeaux.

At the opening event in Sai Ying Pun – an area under heavy redevelopment which is seeing a huge investment from the Hong Kong government and the building of the extension of the city’s underground rail system, the MTR – many of Hong Kong’s food and beverage and media fraternity were in attendance to congratulate the Everlasting Cup and Massandra wines on their new venture.

Everlasting Cup is the exclusive importer of wines from Massandra and managing director Andrey Bogdanov greeted members of the trade and public at the exclusive event.

Mr. Andrey Bogdanov
“We are very pleased to bring Massandra wines to the public of Hong Kong”, Mr. Bogdanov said. “Hong Kong is truly Asia’s world city and it’s great to be able to showcase these incredible wines to the people of not just Hong Kong, but the whole of Greater China”.

“We believe that as well as this area being up and coming, that wines from the Crimea will become a force in Hong Kong as fortified wines become more and more popular and Hong Kong people expand their wine drinking habits”.

In a city where Port wine is so popular and cigar smoking is too, Massandra’s fortified wines are a must for the true wine aficionado. Wine Times has had the pleasure of drinking many of their wines over the last few months, including wines that date as far back as the 1930’s.
